I’m Pressing On, But I’m Not There Yet

We need to be realistic about our walk of faith. And sometimes song lyrics make us hypocrites. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions

I love modern Christian music as well as old hymns.

I especially like music that focuses on the Lord – His beauty, wonder, power, love, perfection, etc.

He’s the ultimate in awesomeness!

But I can’t sing the lyrics to some songs – the ones that claim I’m better than I am.

I don’t serve Jesus with every breath or every step. I’m not 100% sold out to God. I’m not "all in."

I want to be. But I’m not.

I don’t always do the right things or make the right choices.

Sometimes I lose my cool, lose my peace, forget to pray, and let my “old self” lead.

I can’t sing lyrics that make me sound better than I am.

Here’s the tune I can sing wholeheartedly:
"I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me." Philippians 3:12

    OVERVIEW
    LYRICS

    Sometimes the night was beautiful
Sometimes the sky was so far away
Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close
You could touch it but your heart would break
Sometimes the morning came too soon
Sometimes the day could be so hot
There was so much work left to do
But so much You'd already done
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
    Sometimes I think of Abraham
How one star he saw had been lit for me
He was a stranger in this land
And I am that, no less than he
And on this road to righteousness
Sometimes the climb can be so steep
I may falter in my steps
    But never beyond Your reach
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
    (Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
    (Sometimes the night)
    (Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
    (Was beautiful)
    (Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
    (So beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
(Oh God, you are my God)
And I will follow You all of my days
(Oh God, you are my God)
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
    (Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days
    (Sometimes the night)
And I will follow You all of my days
