5 Elements of Genuine Love

Studies show that 75% of men and women have premarital sex by age 20, and most divorces involve adultery.(1) 

Lustful relationships are nothing new: King David suffered lifelong consequences for his lustful night with Bathsheba (2 Samuel 12:10). Men and women throughout history have done the same, destroying marriages, ruining lives, and searing their consciences.  

Those who follow God's loving commands learn that Genuine love involves:

1. Friendship - Romans 12:10
Love begins with friendship, not sex.

2. Respect -Ephesians 5:25-33
Love involves self-control, sacrifice, and consideration.

3. Honesty - Colossians 3:9
Loving relationships aren't built on infidelity or deception. 

4. Love for God -1 Corinthians 15:33 and Ephesians 5:8-11.
Healthy relationships draw us closer to God

5. Commitment-1 Corinthians 7:2, 1 Thessalonians 4:4, and Hebrews 13:4.
True lovers reserve sexual intimacy for marriage out of respect for their lover and their Lord
