Winning a Battle But Losing the War

Sometimes winning is losing and losing is winning in God's economy. This 1-minute devotion explains how we might win a battle but lose the war. #BibleLoveNotes #Biblestudy #bible

Sometimes we can win a battle but lose the war.

It happens in business, ministry, and friendship where one party demands consideration but doesn't give it in return.

Scripture says:

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus..." Philippians 2:3-5

If we sacrifice honesty, kindness, patience, submission, and consideration to gain titles, positions, awards, possessions, money, fame, or pleasure, we may think we've won.

But we actually lose the trust and respect of others, and we prove that we love the things of the world more than we love God (1 John 2:15-17).

Take time today to evaluate your goals and your methods. Sometimes winning is losing and sometimes losing is winning.

  1. This is exactly what happen to us recently. We were in a law suit. We held onto our integrity and in the end we paid what was owed, but not what they expected. They lost respect and we gained it.
