Judging All Things With God's Word

How Maturing Christians view God's Word

Infants and small children aren't capable of making wise choices. They need to mature and develop their cognitive skills.

Our Christian life also begins in a type of spiritual infancy (1 Peter 2:2).

But Christian infancy is meant to be short-lived. We are meant to grow steadily, graduating from milk to solid food and becoming increasingly mature in our faith (Hebrews 5:13-14).

The key nutrient for our growth is God’s Word, and we move into spiritual “adulthood” when we begin applying Scripture to every area of our lives, when we use the Bible to solve problems, make plans, and understand the world around us.

Many popular Christian teachings are contaminated with errors, and these teachings thrive because so many believers remain spiritual infants (1 Corinthians 3:1-2).

Dear Christians, let's quit being childish and start growing up in our faith. Let's grow our spirits by feeding on God's Word and testing all that we hear against the full counsel of Scripture.(1)
