An immature, spoiled child is:
1. Egocentric.
2. Illogical, lacking wisdom and knowledge.
3. Spoiled, feeling entitled.
4. Angered by punishment, no matter what he’s done wrong.
An immature, spoiled Christian is:
(1 Corinthians 3:2; Hebrews 5:12)
1. Egocentric, thinking the Gospel is all about his health, wealth, and happiness.
2. Illogical, lacking Bible knowledge, easily falling prey to false teachings, especially narcigesis.
3. Spoiled, feeling God owes him.
4. Angered by punishment, discipline and consequences for his sins.
Spiritually mature Christians aren’t perfect, but they are working hard to show the results of their salvation:
(Philippians 2:12-13)
1. Becoming less egocentric, more God-centered and other-centered (Matthew 26:36-40).
2. Becoming more Bible literate so they can determine God’s will (Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
3. Recognizing their salvation alone should bring gratitude no matter what else happens (Philippians 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16).
4. Hating their sins and genuinely repenting because they understand they've hurt God (Psalm 51; James 4:8-10).
Let’s "work hard," dear Christians, to show the results of our salvation.(1)
------------------
(1) Please remember that while salvation is by faith, not works, we are saved for good works (Ephesians 2:10). Obedience and good works are proofs of salvation (John 14:21).

Good morning Gail. Happy Friday to you. As I sit here with a cup of coffee reading your post, I am reminded of the humble posture that Christians need to serve Christ. The book of Mark tells us of Christ unwavering obedience to God (His Father) as the suffering Servant who wholeheartedly obeyed His Father in all things even unto death. Let every Christian hold fast to Word of God to remain steadfast in all things for Christ sake. Indeed, to serve God as obedient children who are set aside for His sacred use. Likewise, to be used by God for predestined purposes and works that bring glory to Christ name; that will draw all of humanity towards Him.
ReplyDeleteAmen. Let's ask God for wisdom. Then obey Him.
ReplyDeleteThis was very well said.
ReplyDeleteIt appears from my observation, yes to you title. Many seem to act as if the world owes them. This is a thought provoking topic. Thank you Gail. JKH
