Where's Your Bank? Matthew 6
"Where's your bank?"
This is the main question of Matthew 6.
If we're giving, praying, fasting, and acting spiritual to be seen by men, we're making deposits in the bank of worldly praise (6:1-18).
If money or career is our main focus in life, we're making deposits in the bank of materialism and comfort (6:24).
If we're letting earthly cares consume us, we're making deposits in the bank of unbelief and temporal values (6:25-34).
The message of Matthew 6 is similar to 1 John 2:15-17:
"Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever."
Where's your bank? I hope it's described in 1 Timothy 6:17-19.
