When To Care What People Think of You

Most of us care more about what people think than what God thinks.

We should care what others think:

1. In regard to how we treat them. 

We should be considerate (Philippians 2:3-4), treating them as we would want to be treated (Luke 6:31).

2. The way we live out our Christian values.

Our Christians values should be shining in all areas of our lives
(Matthew 5:16).

But we should never care what other people think about:

1. Our looks, social status, income level, race, etc. (1 Samuel 16:7).

God looks at hearts without prejudice. None of these criteria have eternal value (1 John 2:15-17).

2. If we take a stand for Christian values.

It's important that we take a stand for biblical values. Christ tells us that we won't be popular when we do this, but we our goal should never be popularity (Matthew 10:22; Colossians 2:8). 

Bottom line: When our goal is pleasing God, we will automatically be in right relationship with men, whether we please them or not.
