7 Ways to Walk in the Opposite Spirit

When people treat us badly, we can "walk in the opposite spirit." This 1-minute devotion explains.

It is so easy to judge our behavior by the behavior of others, but that's not our standard. We must learn to do the right thing even when others do wrong.

"We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise." 2 Corinthians 10:12

Instead, we should measure our actions with Scripture:
1. Walking in humility even if others are proud.
2. Confessing and repenting of our sins even if others excuse and justify theirs.
3. Opposing the popular evils of this world even if others embrace them.
4. Being considerate even if others are inconsiderate.
5. Standing up for God's words even if others deny or dilute them.
6. Obeying God carefully even if others are careless.
7. Pursuing God's Kingdom even if others pursue their own kingdoms.

Matthew 13:24-30 says there are pretenders in the body of Christ, and we must not let them influence our faith. Instead, we should be influencing theirs.

For a personal example of walking in the opposite spirit, read about my experience in Didn't Want to Do It, but Did It Anyway. And read about A Crazy Idea in Romans 12:14-21.
