Are
you young mom without a minute to yourself, a busy student, a father
with a demanding work schedule, or a grandparent who can’t believe how
quickly the days pass without prayer and Bible study?
Ephesians 5:15 says, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity…”
Whatever our stage of life, we must “be very careful” to grow in the Lord and “make the most of every opportunity.”
Here are some easy practical ideas for adding Jesus to your busy day:
1. Write Bible passages on sticky notes and put them on your bathroom mirror, above your kitchen sink, or wherever you'll see them often.
2. Keep a pocket-sized Bible or devotional book in your purse, coat, or computer case for easy access when you are waiting for an appointment or have a few minutes between errands.
3. Keep prayer requests or memory verses on 3x5 cards near your desk, kitchen counter, or in your pocket to read whenever time allows.

I set my Outlook to remind me to pray at 9:00 a.m. Then I snooze it for an hour so I am reminded every hour to stop and pray. In the notes section of the reminder, I keep a list of those who need prayers. I date each request so I can keep travk of things.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas, Cindy. Thanks for sharing them. What a great way to use a snooze alarm. Love it!
DeleteI have downloaded a Bible app. on my smart phone and my tablet, that way if i am waiting somewhere, the dr.'s office, the pickup line at school etc. i can access my Bible and the commentaries that came with it. It has surprised me at how much wasted time we have that can easily be turned into God time. Hope this inspires others to do the same. Have a blessed day and that you for all the inspiration and encouragement.
ReplyDeleteSo true--we waste so much time in our everyday lives. What a great way to retrieve some for the Lord. An excellent use of technology. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteI won't start working on my blog before my Quiet Time but I often will do a little housework to get the house 'under control' for the day. I like being reminded to use 3 X 5 cards and sticky notes to write out Bible verses on. I usually write verses out in my journal. I wish I could read the bible on my pone or Nook but it won't work when I am out and without internet access.
ReplyDeleteThanks for allowing these expressions. I copy and paste my scriptures read to my google calendar. I place them on repeat for as long as I want the reminder then from my calendar I can copy and text to my friend and family. This helps with my Christian Development....just want to be like Jesus. Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteI love using sticky notes and 3x5 cards for prayer and Bible study uses, Judith. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAnd crvision: Great ideas. I love hearing how Christians are using technology for such good purposes. I hope others will read and implement some of these ideas.
Everyone has favorites on their computer and scripture or praise songs should be on the list. I have my favorite gospel tunes, but I am old school and its nothing like having something to read that helps at the moment, and if it does not help at that time, just give it time. That' s how the Spirit works.Read His Word, but keep in mind many books informs, but only one tranforms.
ReplyDeleteI love your tips. Simple and so doable! I set a timer sometimes when I am pressed for every second. I know HE understands and blesses me for even 15 minutes alone with HIM. It may sound cold, but it is truly relaxing to know that while I am on task for the rest of my day, I am starting it with 15 minutes with my FATHER.
ReplyDeleteI am reading a book on praying the "Hours" right now that reminds me of a constant call to recollect ...RE-collect myself in God's presence through the day.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea, Jenny.
DeleteThanks for sharing it.
