Listening for Opportunities
Does sharing Christ seem like hard work? Would you rather leave it to others who are better at it?
Admittedly, it’s sometimes easier to start a conversation if you’re in full-time ministry. When people ask what you do, Jesus is part of your job description.
But most Christians don’t have that advantage, and it can be hard to bring up the subject naturally.
God knows our fears and He wants to help us. He can orchestrate situations, direct conversations, and use a variety of things to give us opportunities.
That’s why it’s important to pray throughout our day.
When 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “pray continually,” it doesn’t mean we should be on our knees 24/7. It's talking about an attitude of prayer, seeking God's guidance in everything we do, being consciously aware of His presence.
So whatever we’re doing, let's ask God to give us opportunities to share His love. And let's make sure we're listening when He does, so we can "make the most of every opportunity" (Ephesians 5:15-16).

Yes, it can be intimidating to share when it's not part of our "job" or we're not prepared for it. So you're right, we NEED to be prepared, which is Scriptural!
ReplyDeleteWe should always be prepared to share the hope that is in us, just as the Bible says. We can do something about it, pray for opportunities and then look for them!
Also, just wanted you to know that the "Making Your Home Sing Monday" linky party is up and ready for you to link up your posts this week. Thank you for participating last week! Can't wait to read what you have to say this week!

Life in my Rubber Boots
This is so true, my father recently got back from the Dominican Republic and the churches he preached at were PACKED because American Missionaries were coming.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I think that when we're here at home, people are living in their own home routines and aren't as open to hearing about Christ. I have a friend who tries very hard to share the gospel with people at her work, and the ways she prepares to meet them where they are inspire me.
