“Scientists at the Center for Autoimmune Diseases at Tel Aviv University recently discovered a link between depression and our sense of smell, and found that citrus fragrances—lemons in particular—directly affected neurotransmitters in the brains of mice. The aromas help boost serotonin, a feel-good hormone, and reduce levels of norepinephrine, a stress hormone.”(1)
Anyone who knows me knows I love lemons. I enjoy fresh lemonade, lemon-flavored desserts, and slices of lemon in beverages. And I love knowing that lemons can also improve my mood!
That's the kind of God we serve. He is an amazing Creator! Only He could build so many sweet purposes into something so sour.
It makes me think of the saying: “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”
In some ways, that's a simple explanation of the the truth contained in Romans 8:28:
“God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
When something in life turns sour, God is able to use it for something sweet.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post! I have never been particularly fond of lemons, but now that you mentioned this, I am going to give them a try. Love your line of God using something sour for our good! Amen be to the most High for loving us so much :)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you lost your voice, but give our thanks to your hubby for his help. Hope your Christmas was a blessed one and may your New Year be filled to overflowing with His blessings! Feel better soon Gail.

Citron :-) Thats very special, never read about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm heading out to the kitchen to put some slices of lemons in a glass of water and then I am going to find some lemon essential oil. My goal this year is to draw nearer to the Lord with thanksgiving so that I discover joy no matter what life brings. Lemons?! Thanks you so much Gail.
ReplyDeleteNature's medicine is often the best. I have someone very close to be that suffers from depression and I will certainly suggest this. I'm like you -- I just love the smell and taste of lemons. Our neighbor has a lemon tree that hangs over into our yard and the smell of the blossoms is really wonderful! Especially in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteTry lemon on your face. I squeeze a lemon and put the juice on my face. just a couple of drops. The lemon will clean and brighten up your face. it will clean up black heads. It is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI've always love anything with a lemon flavor, lemon scent. Maybe this is (subconsciously) why. Thank you! Glad you linked this to the GRAND Social! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi Gail. The lemon drew my attention. I love lemon. I used to mix them with olive oil and use them as lotion. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI heard about this before, but that it has to be natural lemon scent, not just the "lemon-y" scented candles, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love lemons,i add lemons to almost everything, alkalines the body, detoxes your liver, kidneys, drink thru out day instead of drinking sodas. Use raw honey instead of sugar for lemonade drinks, Keeps flus away from you. Learn to luv this.😘
