Our lives are full of people we owe.
The last time I voted, I thought about the fact that I owe my right to vote to the ladies who passionately crusaded for women's rights a hundred years ago.
Every day we enjoy freedoms secured by soldiers and politicians in the past.
We owe scientists, medical researchers, inventors, and manufacturers for thousands of comforts and conveniences.
As Christians, we owe saints throughout history for the encouragement we gain from their stories and their knowledge of Scripture (Hebrews 12:1).
And we owe people we know personally, people we often take for granted: pastors, parents, teachers, Bible study leaders, friends, and family.
Above all, we owe our Lord, who every day gives us breath, life, joy, peace, and purpose. He blesses us directly and He blesses us indirectly through the sacrifices, wisdom, and hard work of others (1 Corinthians 4:7).
Why not take some take time this week to text, call, email, or write a thank-you to someone you "owe." God loves a grateful heart (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

I also voted for the first time in my life. I have never felt more moved to vote in my life. I walked right in and voted and walked right back out of the place. I was surprised by how people actually did vote.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up a good point a lot of people faught to make it so that we could vote in the first place. I never appreciated that fact until this voting season.
