"I give you my word" means: "You can rest assured I will do what I say. You can count on it."
And that's what God did…He gave us His Word so we can:
- Avoid error and shame - by knowing what His Word teaches (2 Timothy 2:15).
- Avoid deception - by obeying His Word (James 1:22-25).
- Avoid confusion - by checking everything against His Word (Acts 17:11).
"My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it." Isaiah 55:11
God's Word is unchanging:
"Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens." Psalm 119:89
God's Word is pure truth:
"Every Word of God proves true." Proverbs 30:5
God doesn’t want us to be ashamed, deceived, confused, or lost, and that’s why He gives us His Word.
We can count on it!
