The Value of Making a Mess

For the same reason that we let our children make messes, God lets us make messes. This 1-minute devotion explains why. #BibleLoveNotes #Biblestudy

My granddaughters love to bake, and that means flour everywhere and an occasional gooey eggshell on the floor. It always takes twice as long as when I bake alone.

If my goal were simply to make cookies or cinnamon rolls, I could do it easier, cleaner, and more efficiently without their help.

I imagine God feels the same way about us. He lets us make our messes doing things He could do easier Himself.

But He's willing to deal with the mess because we're His children and He wants to help us grow, learn and be productive.

"The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are." Psalm 103:13-14

And when we succeed at something He's been teaching us, I imagine He enjoys it as much as I enjoy my granddaughters' creations.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1

  2. Aww how sweet! Thanks for this great reminder...not only what God allows us to do, but to take time with our children and grandchildren. The time with them is so short!

  8. That is a really good point! I have never made that connection before. It also makes me realize just how much patience He has. Because He KNOWS I am not very patient when it comes to cooking with my kids. I can make a lot bigger mess of life than I can cooking. What a wonderful Lord. It always bring tears to my eyes when I think about how much He has forgiven and how much he loves. Thanks for sharing at Mom's Library!
