Before age 12, I moved approximately 20 times because of my father’s job.
At age 19 (9/5/70), I married my best friend and together we've moved approximately another 20 places within the U.S. and Europe.
The longest I've ever lived in one place is 8 years.
I understand what it means to be “an alien and stranger."
Scripture describes Christians as “aliens and strangers” (1 Peter 2:11; Hebrews 11:13-16 ) because we have an eternal point of view.
We know we’re just passing through this world on our way to the next.
We know we’ll never be completely satisfied or “at home” here.
Today I'm praising my God who has been my constant and unchanging "home."

Bible Love Notes
Good morning!! Wow, moved 21 times by the time you were 12!! I moved 21 times by the time I was 22 and I thought that was a LOT!! WOW!! We have only moved four times during our marriage. It was quite something to live somewhere longer than 5 years!!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a wonderful post reminding me of how this is not my permanent home. It is so good to remember that and not to get too settled in.
Wishing you a very happy anniversary! May you continue to be blessed in your marriage, and be a blessing to others.
ReplyDeleteAs a child we moved a lot, too. I love saying we have lived in the same home for 25 years. Marie
ReplyDeleteWe are preparing to move into our 17th residence in 44 years of marriage. Our average stay is 2.59 years. As a child I only moved 4 times. One of my favorite choruses since teenage has been "This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through." I guess it should be my theme song. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow that is a lot of moving. Love the pictures, you guys look so adorable. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! You were a gorgeous bride, you two looked so young and adorable :) Also, that really is a lot of moving, but it's great to see new places!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! I sometimes get caught up in the small stuff but THIS IS NOT OUR HOME! I am stopping by from The Better Mom link-up
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of moves, Gail. I've moved a lot but you've got me beat! We are just merely sojourners, are we not? I tell others that we're also area missionaries because we move frequently in the area due to financial drought! We're here for the Lord to bring Him glory but this is not our final resting place! Thanks for sharing this on The Alabaster Jar.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely adventure you life must be! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteGod bless us
