Do you know that God didn't simply "invent" compassion and comfort? This 1-minute devotion encourages you to ponder something far more incredible. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

  • Alexander Graham Bell is the father of the telephone.
  • Thomas Edison is the father of the light bulb.*
  • Bill Gates is the father of Microsoft.
  • Mark Zuckerberg is the father of Facebook.
Being the father means they invented these things. They thought them up, designed them, and made them available.

Now get ready for this one:
God is the Father of compassion (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

But God didn't simply "invent" compassion—He is the source and giver of compassion. It's part of who He is.

And His complete title in these verses is: "The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort."

All comfort.

Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Whatever your situation, when you go to the Lord in prayer, petition, repentance, tears, or sorrow, you are going to the source of compassion, not merely the inventor.

Why not read through these encouraging Scriptures from the God of all comfort: Psalm 103:13; Isaiah 30:18; Isaiah 41:10; Isaiah 49:13; Isaiah 54:10; James 5:11; 2 Corinthians 1:3; Hebrews 13:5.

* Edison did not invent the first light bulb but he invented the first commercially viable light bulbs.

  1. I have found this to be true. Tried and proved. Especially when I have had overwhelming problems which seemed to have no answer. How do you think of such wonderful comparisons to bring out what you are sharing so beautifully?!
