  1. Wouldn't pride be the first sin, as Satan's pride was his downfall?

    1. Yes, I have no argument with what you are saying. But it's a bit complex. We don't fully understand how the serpent represents Satan until later in Scripture (e.g. Revelation 20:2). And Satan is not actually a snake. He's a spiritual being. And while we indirectly meet Satan in Genesis and see his pride at work in the serpent, we don't read about Satan's background until later in "the Book." So in some ways you could say Satan's sin came before "the Book" was written. But the real bottom line is this: my focus in this series is the first recorded sins of mankind.

    2. Actually I'm referring to Lucifer's fall from Heaven because of his pride.

    3. Yes, Barb, that's also what I was referring to. Lucifer's fall isn't spoken of until Isaiah, but it occurred before Genesis 3. Lucifer, Satan, the Devil are one in the same. And as I explained, Satan was the force behind the serpent in Genesis 3.
