Nine Things That Will Disappear and One That Won't
We apologize for this extra step, but this devotion from 2011 was updated and is now located at the link below. We pray that this devotion will encourage you!
I love this site. So glad I found it. So you went to CIU? So did I. Please check out my site to that I am just now changing over to "helping Christian moms nourish their heart, health, and home." It is at http://amyhagerup.com. Leave a comment and let's get connected. I'll follow your pinterest boards and your fan page too. Can't wait to get connected.
So true about all words not being created equal. God has been showing me more and more the truth of that verse...that His Word is living and active and sharper than a two-edged sword. And what a blessing to know that even when land-line phones and newspapers are the stuff of museums...His Word stands forever!
I so agree, Jennifer--so glad God is unchanging. And I think I will always enjoy having a few real books, even though I love my Kindle for traveling. : ) Gail
Dear Gail One thing that will never change, is the Resurected Word living in us! I am so grateful. It is actually sad when we see how the world changes due to technology. So many jobs are lost when people are replaced by machines and computers. Blessings XX Mia
Great post! I hate that so many things are dying out. I wonder how my kids will communicate with their kids. Things like real conversation on a front porch are a rarity among teens now. It is kind of sad. Glad that the Word of God will never change :)
Nice post, and thanks for sharing it. I would be sad without most of those things. But I agree, God is unchanging and the way he communicates with us will not change. Thanks for linking up, with love, -Jo
It is amazing Gail how much you pack in your one minute blog posts! Wow, I'm kinda sad some of those things will go away. I'm a huge sit in a chair with a book fan. I love your contrast that the Word of God is like no other words! Our treasure. Thank you for your faithfulness in linking up on Wednesdays. I really appreciate it and you!
Wow! I believe it! Our family has already done away with checks, newspaper, land lines, cd's....and if I am honest with myself...probably a little bit of privacy! Ugh. Lol Great article!
Everytime I comment on your blog it begins with "my husband and I have talked about that...". Well here I go again. My husband and I have talked about most of those items at length and the implications of their disappearance. One that I disagree with is books. Books may eventually die out, but I believe they will be around for much longer than most of the other items on the list. There is something special and unique about holding a book that cannot be replicated digitally.
Your post is so very true...several of these things have already disappeared from my life. So comforting to know that His love endures forever and so does His word :)
Yes, Debby, they are fast disappearing. But I may hang on to some of them like books : ) And so glad the Word will endure no matter how it is saved. Thanks for commenting. Gail : )
Technology is developing so quickly it's almost scary. How long did we have albums before another method was created? Decades and decades longer than the CD. Many of those things on the list have already gone by the wayside for me, sadly. Great post with much to ponder!
Yes, Gail, when I think back 25 years and how I had to type up my Bible studies, use white out for mistakes, sometimes mimeograph them because not every church had a xerox machine! Boy, have times changed. So glad God remains the same! : )
great post!

ReplyDeleteGreat post. The word of God will endure forever.
ReplyDeleteHi Gail! What an interesting observation about words. And you are so right, we need to hang on to the words of God. What would we do without them?
ReplyDeleteI'm really going to miss the newspaper, not going to lie. I am a crossword fanatic :)
Always good to see you!

so glad for truth!
