The clear connection between those two statements lets us know that they are talking about both sides of a coin if you will, or in this case both of the Kings options, what he said he was going to do which was throw them in the furnace, or choose some other torture method or something to get them to submit, they covered both of those!... they didn't back down and questioned what God was going to do, they were much more aware of their mission than we are today! They knew the king had to see something! And they had complete confidence that they would come out of the fire if they went in for that very reason! That's why they said can and will, had they gone back and questions that they would have immediately been in the place of the wave ring man, the double-minded man, that James says receives nothing!!!
