God's Word is Incredible!

God’s Word is absolutely incredible! 

Let’s look at its description in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: 

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 

1. God-breathed: men wrote what God’s Spirit told them to write (Exodus 34:27; 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Peter 3:14-18). 

If we reject the words Paul recorded, we reject God’s words.  

2. Useful for teaching/instruction (Psalm 19:7; Proverbs 8:10). 

Everything worthwhile requires instruction, training, and practice. Our faith is no exception. 

3. Useful for rebuking (Psalm 141:5; Revelation 3:19). 

No one likes rebuke, but it’s a part of growth in Christ whether it comes from godly fellow believers or straight from God’s Word. 

4. Useful for correction (Proverbs 15:31-32). 

Correction is softer than rebuke just as discipline is softer than punishment. God’s Word does both.

5. Useful for training in righteousness (Ephesians 5:8-9).  

Our goal is to live godly lives out of love for the Lord (Romans 12:1-2). 

6. Thoroughly equipped for every good work (Hebrews 13:20-21). 

God gives us what we need! 

"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." ~ 2 Peter 1:3

"All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work."
