Future Promises, Not Earthly Promises

When we claim future promises during our earthly lives, we ignore key passages of Scripture and create a false belief system. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

When people say God promises Christians health, wealth, and comfort here on earth, they ignore passages like Romans 8:18-25:

"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies... we hope for what we do not yet have..."

When we claim future promises during our earthly lives, we ignore key passages of Scripture and create a false belief system. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible
Hebrews 2:5-9 and 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 also tell us that Christ's work is completed in the spiritual realm but not yet in the earthly realm.(1)

We are healed by Christ's stripes, physically, emotionally, and spiritually,(2) and that healing begins here on earth.

But it won't be complete until heaven when Jesus wipes away every tear, ending death and pain forever (Revelation 21:4).

There are some popular misunderstandings based on applying future promises to our present lives.

But the Scriptures linked above can help us avoid that confusion.

  1. Sister, Isa.53:5 is one of those commonly misused verses. Christians have been healed of our sin sickness, as scripture says.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness— by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
