Moving Past the Basics

Scripture commands us to make these two steps to become effective, maturing Christians. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

"God cannot lead you on the basis of information you do not have" — Ralph Winter

Before becoming a surgeon, a student learns the basics, then advances to more intense study and practice. Even after he achieves his goal, he continues to update his education, learning and applying new information.

After all, people's lives are at stake.

Christians, we should also make deliberate plans in our calling to know God better. It won't just happen by itself (Philippians 2:12-13).

The Bible commands us to:
1. First learn and practice the basics - "pure spiritual milk" (1 Peter 2:2-3)

2. Then move on to deeper faith - "solid food" (1 Corinthians 3:1-2; Hebrews 5:12; 2 Timothy 2:15)

Many believers are misled by the false philosophies prevalent in our culture (Colossians 2:8). They are "perishing from a lack of knowledge" because they haven't been deliberate about growing in their faith (Hosea 4:6).

Let's be deliberate, dear Christians.
There are lives at stake - our own and those we influence.
