Thanksgiving leftovers, Giving God our Best
Thanksgiving is one time we enjoy leftovers.

My husband anticipates after-Thanksgiving cold turkey dipped in mayonnaise, and I look forward to repeated servings of cornbread stuffing.

Normally, however, leftovers aren’t a great thing. They’re the food that sits in the frig until it loses flavor or grows moldy…the used clothes the older sister passes down to the younger sister…the unwanted items on the sale rack.

But the worst leftovers are those we give God. Leftover time and money…half-hearted praise…weak commitment…last minute effort.

I give God leftovers sometimes even though I know Scripture says:
Honor GOD with everything you own; give him the first and the best. He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.
Proverbs 3:9 (MSG),Matthew 6:33 (NLT).

Today as we eat leftovers, let’s make a commitment not to give any to God!
