Angie pulls into her driveway and sees her husband hugging another woman at their front door, a woman she’s never seen before.
What will Angie think?
If her husband is trustworthy, Angie may have fleeting doubts. But she'll assume it's her husband's cousin or an old friend. If Angie's husband isn't trustworthy, she'll have legitimate concerns.
We handle situations with other human beings based on the faithfulness of the person involved, their past performance, and the level of trust they've earned.
And we approach Scripture based on our trust in God.
What do we think when we encounter a Bible passage that confuses or troubles us? Do we wonder if God is uncaring or unjust? Or do we trust His goodness?
We can wholeheartedly trust the unchanging love and goodness of our Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Psalm 62:8: "Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him."

ReplyDeleteYes, I will and am praying for you.
I need prayer for selfishness.
Christine, I pray you will allow God to deal with the selfishness in your heart and draw you closer to Him in the process. And I can always use that prayer myself too. We fallen human beings are bent toward selfishness, aren't we. Thanks for your honesty.
DeleteAnd thanks for your prayers for me too.
Bless you,
Gail
Wow, great illustration. I did not expect what I read. It really hit me. thank you. Will pray for healing for you Gail. My request is for healing also. For myself and especially for my 1 year old grandson, serious food allergies.
ReplyDeleteI pray that God would heal both you and your grandson, Anna. Food allergies are so challenging, especially for young children.

Such a great analogy. Sometimes we tend to put our interpretation on people and things and that includes Scripture. We have to take God at His word and trust Him, just as you said!
ReplyDeleteI will pray about your hearing loss. I am assuming they are ruling things out at this time. I will pray for wisdom and peace and healing! Also FYI, Making Your Home Sing Monday linky party is live!
Thanks so much for your prayers, Nan. Yes, I've had lots of tests without any helpful results.

Hi Gail, what you say here is so true. We can trust God 100%! And when we do He will protect our marriages and carry us when we get hurt in relationship. Great reminder

ReplyDeleteThanks for your prayers, Katherine. I pray that your health issues will also be healed. I agree that not understanding the cause can be very challenging. Thanks also for your encouragement about Bible Love Notes. That's always a blessing for me to hear.
