Popular or Truthful?

It's popular to write things that make folks feel comfortable, but both you and I are called to something else. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions

It's wonderful to be complimented and affirmed. But a steady diet of praise leaves us immature and proud.

Scripture provides the balance we need:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Bible Love Notes would be more popular if it featured devotions that always affirmed folks and never challenged them.

And we'd all be more popular if we embraced cultural trends and remained silent about God's moral commands.

But our purpose is not to win the approval of people (Galatians 1:10).

In fact, Jesus said, "You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved" (Matthew 10:22).

So let's speak the truth in love and grow up in our faith, becoming mature members of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:15).

Note: One of the driving forces behind revisionist, progressive, and ex-vangelical movements is a desire to be free of God's moral commands and be accepted by culture. It's not easy to be hated for the sake of Christ. But when we realize what He's done for us, we wouldn't have it any other way!

  2. Thanks Gail, for presenting me with a challenge.
I'd rather hear and receive the truth, which sets me free in Christ Jesus,
than tarry on the road which leads to destruction. Have an awesome week.

  4. Hi Gail, I would much rather have a few followers that want the truth, then those that want their ears tickled.
And we are told to discern between evil and good so we may judge with His standard. But your points and scriptures were right on.
    Blessings, Roxy
