Let's Be Grown-Ups at Christmas

Childish attitudes cause many adults to lose their joy during the holidays. This 1-minute devotion encourage us to "grow up" during the holidays. #Christmas #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

Many of us have childish attitudes toward Christmas.

I'm not talking about childlike attitudes. I'm talking about childish ones.

Some of us compare our holidays to the magical holidays of our childhood and feel disappointed if they aren't as perfect now.

We forget that when we were children, our parents were the ones who had to deal with prickly family relationships, tight budgets, health problems, and other demands of adulthood during the holidays.

Some of us think of sad holidays from our childhood and wallow in self-pity that things weren't better for us.

I admit I've sometimes had a childish attitude toward holidays.

But I'm learning to grow up.

Adults quit focusing on themselves and start focusing on Jesus, realizing that they don't need perfect holidays because they have a perfect Savior (see John 16:33).

And that truth gives grown-up Christians childlike joy even in the worst of holiday circumstances.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

Are you feeling less than excited about the holidays? Grow up and focus on Jesus!

  1. The beauty of a Mom's love is wrapped up in the little things a child doesn't fully comprehend...until they are grown. What a blessing to read your memories... Thank you
