End of the World!

Well, the world didn’t end today.

Maybe you didn’t hear, but some groups were predicting that due to the Mayan calendar, the world would end today: December 21, 2012.

Thousands of movements throughout history have predicted such things.

And it’s not just pagans:
  • Martin Luther thought the world would end before 1600.
  • The Adventist movement started when their founder predicted the Second Coming of Christ for 1843.
  • Lots of folks, Christians and non-Christians alike, thought the world would end as we know it in Y2K (12:01AM, January 1, 2000).
But Christ made it clear: “about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Matthew 24:36).

And Jesus tells us this so we’ll “live ready,” making every day matter.

The world didn’t end, so let’s find God’s purposes for us today…and tomorrow…and the next day…
