Shortcuts

don't take shortcuts from God's will, obey God, the narrow path leads to destruction

Do you find it tedious to read the hundreds of rules in the book of Exodus?

I'm sure God had good reasons for every rule, but I can't understand some of them, and I'm glad we're not bound by them today.

Reading Exodus got me thinking about shortcuts. Adam and Eve had one rule...just one…don’t eat the fruit of one tree. But an unreliable source (Satan) told them about a shortcut: they could break that one rule and be like God (Genesis 3).

That shortcut damaged their souls making them less like God, and it required the most extensive redemption plan in all of history...a plan which required thousands of rules

Whenever we ignore God’s commands, we take the same kind of shortcut. 

So let's avoid "shortcuts" and take God's way no matter how long it seems! (Matthew 7:13
