Got $500 for My Barbie

Worldly values, confused values, value of old Barbie doll
When I was a little girl in the early 60's, I bought a Barbie doll for about $3 dollars. I was careful with my toys, so it was in great condition when I sold it in the 1990’s for $500. Pretty good investment for a child under 10-years-old.

It’s amazing how much people pay for rare and popular items.

Mark MGwire’s 70th home-run ball sold for over $3 million.

Judy Garland’s ruby slippers from the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie sold for 93,000 pounds.

Darth Vader’s Helmet from the Empire Strikes back sold for $115,000.

You can buy loose pages from the 1455 Gutenberg Bible for $95,000-$195,000.

This last item makes the most sense to me, not only because it’s so old, but because the words of the Lord are more valuable, more desirable, more precious than the finest gold (Psalm 19:10).

Reading, studying and memorizing them is the best investment we can make!

  1. Oh it is! I often think about whats its gonna be like in heaven with the scripture we have memorized. Recently I haven't been making time to memorize... or review the verses I do have memorize. I guess something to talk to the Lord about. :)
