Two Copper Coins

two copper coins
"If a man is stingy when he is poor, he will be stingy when he is rich.” unknown

Though my father was not the wealthiest of his siblings, he was always among the first to help with family needs. That’s because generosity has more to do with our hearts than our pocketbooks.

In Luke 21 a poor widow put two copper coins in the temple treasury, and Jesus said, “I tell you the truth…this poor widow has put in more than all the others” (21:3,4).

Her gift was not the largest, but it was the most generous.

When we give generously, God notices… and He remembers. It’s like making a deposit in our eternal bank account (1 Timothy 6:17-19).

There are thousands of needs in our world, our country, and our community. Let's ask God if there is any area where He'd like us to be more generous.

  1. Thanks for sharing and the little "nudge" to focus on others and not so much on ourselves!
    God Bless and Merry Christmas!

  2. This is very good. It is true that generosity has very little to do with means.
