Would $1000 an Hour Be Enough?

The phone! The doorbell! An 'urgent' need! Something I forgot!

All of these things vie for my attention when I try to read the Bible. But my list is small compared to women with small children!

Someone once asked me this question: Imagine you could earn $1000 every day you read your Bible one hour. How many days would you miss?

Bible reading offers:
  • a closer relationship with the Creator of the Universe
  • increased faith, guidance, knowledge
  • and much more!
Yet most of us would be more faithful if we earned $1000 an hour for reading it. The Psalmist was smarter. He wrote:

"My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" Psalm 42:2

I make time for things I think are important. Will you join me today in praying to have a heart that thirsts for the Living God more than for material wealth?

  1. Love that thought! Sadly I would read my Bible much more too if someone gave me $1,000 an hour to do it!

  4. Wow! That's a powerful view. Definitely makes you think because really its worth so much more than $1000. Thanks for linking up to to Titus 2 Tuesday. Hope to see you again this week.

  5. Good point Gail! I have to admit, I would be more faithful to read the Word of God if it meant £1000 for doing so... that sounds awful now it's in print. Yes, I too need to pray for a heart that thirsts for God. Help me God.
