Contentment Comes from Proper Perspective

Contentment is a treasure worth seeking and this one-minute devotion explains God's instructions for gaining it.

Did you know that many people in our world don't have adequate food, clothing, and shelter?

We should ponder that whenever we feel deprived of something that doesn't fall into those categories. We have a hard time realizing that many things we call necessities are actually luxuries.

Our culture measures quality of life by how much er earn, what we can buy, or what we can finance. But Christians use different measures, or at least we should.

Even in the world, contentment isn't necessarily linked to wealth. Rich people can be just as discontent as poor people. In fact, poor people are sometimes more content than wealthy people.

That's because genuine contentment isn't based on how much money or possessions we have. It's based on our perspective. And we Christians should have the best perspective of all.

"Godliness with contentment is itself great wealth." 1 Timothy 6:6

We don't measure our contentment with the world's yardstick because worldly things distract us from the treasure of serving God (1 John 2:15-17).

So whenever we begin to feel twinges of discontent, let's concentrate on heavenly treasure and give our hearts to the pursuit of spiritual wealth (Matthew 6:19-21).
